Hagon 36009 rear shocks are a direct-fit twin-shock upgrade for the air-cooled Triumph Scrambler 865 (Scrambler 900), 2006–2016, carbureted and fuel-injected. Hagon makes them at its own factory in Essex, England, and supplies them as a complete pair with mounting bushes. Each pair is built with a spring rate matched to your rider, passenger, and luggage weight. That gives a more comfortable ride and better rear grip than the original preload-only shocks.

There are three styles. The 2820 Adjustable (36009TTSA) adds damping adjustment. The Classic I (36009SA1) and Classic III (36009CL3) pair Hagon’s sealed damper with traditional British looks, from a short polished top cover to fully shrouded black and polished covers.

Why Upgrade to Hagon Shocks

  • Built for your weight: tell us your rider, passenger, and luggage weights and how often you ride two-up. Hagon then builds the pair with the right spring rate for how you actually ride.
  • Progressive springs: the spring rate rises as the shock compresses. It stays supple over small bumps and gets firmer for big hits and heavy loads.
  • Sealed 28mm damper: oil and nitrogen gas share one sealed chamber. Fewer parts and wear points make for consistent, low-maintenance damping on the road.
  • Easy preload adjustment: the 3-position enclosed cam lets you add preload for a passenger or luggage in seconds.
  • Damping adjustment (2820 only): one adjuster sets compression and rebound together, so you can fine-tune comfort and control.
  • British made since 1958: Hagon Products was founded by speedway and grasstrack champion Alf Hagon, and has made twin shocks in the UK since taking over the former Girling suspension operation.

Fitment

  • Triumph Scrambler 865 / Scrambler 900 (air-cooled), 2006–2016, carbureted and EFI models

Note: Air-cooled Bonneville and T100 models use a shorter shock. For those bikes, choose the Triumph Bonneville / T100 Hagon Shocks PN 34045. The 2017-on liquid-cooled Street Scrambler and Scrambler 900 use different shocks. Contact us for a custom Hagon order.

Installation Tips

  • Support the motorcycle securely with the rear wheel just off the ground before you remove the original shocks.
  • Change one shock at a time so the swingarm stays in position.
  • On the 2820 Adjustable, fit the shocks with the damping adjuster at the bottom, as Hagon specifies.
  • Tighten the mounting bolts to the torque in your Triumph service manual.
  • Set both shocks to the same preload position, and the same damping setting on the 2820. Adjust preload for a passenger or luggage.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Triumph models do Hagon 36009 shocks fit?

Hagon 36009 shocks fit the air-cooled Triumph Scrambler 865, also called the Scrambler 900, from 2006 to 2016. They fit both carbureted and fuel-injected models.

What is the difference between 36009TTSA, 36009SA1, and 36009CL3?

The 36009TTSA is Hagon’s Type 2820 Adjustable, with open chrome springs and both damping and preload adjustment. The 36009SA1 Classic I has an open chrome spring with a short polished top cover. The 36009CL3 Classic III is fully shrouded with gloss black and polished stainless covers. The two Classic styles have preload adjustment only.

Which Hagon 36009 shocks have adjustable damping?

Only the 36009TTSA Type 2820 has damping adjustment. One adjuster controls compression and rebound together, with automatic balance between them. All three styles have 3-position spring preload adjustment.

Are Hagon 36009 shocks sold as a pair?

Yes. Every style is supplied as a complete pair with mounting bushes. The 2820 Adjustable also comes with tools and adjustment instructions. The Classic styles come with a C spanner for spring adjustment.

Why do you ask for my rider, passenger, and luggage weight?

Hagon builds each pair with a spring rate matched to the load on the bike. Your weights and how often you ride two-up let Hagon choose the right spring, so the shocks are neither too harsh nor too soft.

Will Hagon 36009 shocks improve ride quality over the stock Scrambler shocks?

Yes, for most riders. The stock Scrambler shocks only have preload adjustment. Hagon’s progressive springs are matched to your weight and paired with a sealed damper, which improves comfort over bumps and keeps the rear tire planted for better handling.

Can I fit Bonneville or T100 Hagon shocks to my Scrambler?

No. The air-cooled Bonneville and T100 use a shorter rear shock than the Scrambler. Use the 36009 for the Scrambler and Hagon 34045 for the Bonneville and T100.

Do Hagon 36009 shocks fit the 2017-on Street Scrambler or Scrambler 900?

No. The 36009 is for the 2006–2016 air-cooled Scrambler 865. Liquid-cooled Scrambler models use different shocks. Contact us to custom order the correct Hagon part.

How do I adjust the preload on Hagon shocks?

Use the C spanner, or the supplied tool on the 2820, to turn the enclosed cam to one of three preload positions. Use a higher position for a passenger or luggage, and set both shocks the same.

Which way up do the Hagon 2820 shocks fit?

Hagon designs the 2820 Adjustable to be fitted with the damping adjuster at the bottom.
