EBC CK5599 Clutch Plate Kit for Triumph 955i and 1050 Triples
The EBC CK5599 is a complete set of replacement clutch friction plates for fuel-injected Triumph triples: the Speed Triple 955i and 1050, the Sprint ST 955i and 1050, the Sprint RS, the Daytona 955i and the Tiger 1050. The kit contains 10 friction plates, a full engine set, that replace Triumph part numbers T1171001 (8x) and T1170713 (2x). If your clutch slips under hard acceleration, engages near the end of the lever, or drags and makes neutral hard to find, fresh plates restore smooth, positive engagement.

Signs your Triumph needs new clutch plates
- The revs rise but the bike doesn’t accelerate to match, especially in top gear or under hard acceleration
- The clutch engages only right at the end of the lever travel, even after adjustment
- Drag: the bike creeps forward at a stop, neutral is hard to find, or first gear goes in with a heavy clunk
- Grabbing or juddering when you pull away
- A burnt smell, or flakes of friction material in the oil at an oil change
Before replacing plates, check the simple things first: clutch cable adjustment and free play, cable condition and the oil grade. Car oils with friction modifiers can cause slipping in a wet clutch.
Installation tips
- Soak the new plates. Soak the friction plates in fresh engine oil before fitting so the clutch doesn’t grab or glaze when first used.
- Hold the clutch basket. Use a clutch basket holding tool to keep the basket from turning while you loosen and torque the clutch hub nut. Don’t jam the gears or the primary drive to stop it turning.
- Keep the plates in order. Lay out the old plates in removal order. The kit contains two plate types, so note where each type came from and follow your Triumph service manual for the correct order.
- Measure everything. Check steel plate warpage and spring free length against the service manual limits. Worn springs cause slipping even with new plates.
- Use motorcycle oil. Refill with a motorcycle oil rated for wet clutches (JASO MA/MA2). Torque the clutch cover bolts to spec with a new gasket.
- Adjust free play. Set the clutch cable free play after reassembly, then bed the plates in gently for the first few miles.
